but have you always needed to remove the downpipe in the past due to it being awkward to access, or because the O2 sensor is so badly seized in the bung?
In my experience, it has always been the latter... even off the car, torching, freezing, wailing with a 4" breaker and a reinforced o2 sensor socket... nothing will budge the damn thing. Only solution to reuse a downpipe in the past has been to destroy the O2 sensor - cutting it off at the bung and then cutting it into small pieces up to the threads and chiseling it out... and then re-tapping the bung... really not worth the effort vs buying a brand new shiny downpipe, but if I had an expensive custom pipe, I agree that I might think differently!
All I can say is they use way too much salt on the roads up here!
