Thanks to Araiflora and BobwithSaab for logging their experience. I did take a look at the front turn signal assemblies. Grounds seemed to be okay, but I'll check again, and include the tail light assemblies as well.
I was able to continuity between terminal 49 and terminal 31 at the flasher socket when both the hazard switch and the turn signal switch were in the off position (voltage was about 11.5). I was able to confirm continuity at terminal 49a and terminal 31 at the flasher socket when either the hazard switch or the turn signal was engaged (again, voltage was about 11.5). Perhaps I should check amps between 49a and 31, as that might indicate that the flasher unit is getting power from more than one source. I think that's a good test. If not, someone please correct me.
Next up I'll confirm correct voltage and amperage between the supply terminal at the hazard switch and terminal 31 at the flasher socket.
If I get expected readings, I'll scratch my head and consider the next step.
I'll let you folks know the final outcome.
