Signal cancellation issue fixed Posted by Arabiflora [Email] (#1129) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Arabiflora) on Sun, 1 Oct 2017 22:06:04 In Reply to: Update and yet more questions re: steering column, Arabiflora [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 27 Sep 2017 02:51:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just FYI, I went at it today. Recall that the steering wheel, with the attached black tab that is supposed to contact the white boss that extends from the signal stalk, was too far out (towards the driver) to make conact. It was close, but no cigar. It turned-out that the fix was quite easy. I loosen the 13 mm retaining bolt on the pinch clamp that connects the U-joint at the end of the steering column to the splined intermediate shaft, removed the emblem badge cover from the steering wheel, and loosened the steering wheel nylock retaining nut a few turns by using a 22 mm socket and extension. I removed the ratchet itself and tapped against the steering column shaft. After just a few relatively gentle taps, I check for overlap of black tab and white boss, it was almost perfect to my eye. I cinched-down the pinch clamp and the nylock SW retaining nut and replaced that lovely Saab emblem. It works as designed, Huzzah!
