Check the simple (i.e., easy to repair cheaply) stuff first:
- Look for a loose or cracked rubber boot on the turbo induction ducts. Make sure that the clamps are reasonably tight. This is often a problem that causes running problems like you describe.
- The rubber boot that connects the plastic induction to the turbo tends to deteriorate from oil. Definitely take that one off and check it. It's available from places like eEuroparts and thesaabsite.com Follow the link below for more info.
- Look at the bushings that hold the vacuum nipples into the intake manifold. If you can pull one out easily, replace it. You won't be sorry.
- And, of course, vacuum hoses: if any are split. replace them.
- Vacuum nipples. If any are cracked, replace them.
if none of that pans out, post again and there will be a list of other things to look at.
