8V NA to turbo (conversion). OE fit parts only Posted by MC [Email] (#1472) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MC) on Mon, 9 Oct 2017 16:58:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Looking for any experienced insight to adding a (~1985/87)16-Valve turbo exhaust-manifold to the old {1984} 8-valve head.
Should it just bolt up the same? or is there some customization (cutting/welding, etc..) involved?
Understanding all the peripheral plumbing involved for the conversion: Oil-feed/return etc. Depending on the turbo-core used; maybe even coolant lines and hose conversions.
BUT FOR NOW: focusing on the cylinder head, exhaust ports, and 16-valve vs. 8-valve manifold mounting before I start taking anything apart.
Alternately: if a 8-valve TURBO exhaust-manifold can be obtained. are there still provisions to be made to fit an "updated style" 16-valve turbo core to the OG 8-valce manifold?
I'm working with a grip of {good} spare parts here and trying to avoid too much customization or purchasing of aftermarket equipment. Ultimately, I'd like it to have that Original Equipment look.
Not building a race car. Just trying to "re-purpose" an old gent of an 8-valve into something more worthy of the long and tall roads
