From what I've heard, the 90s spindles had a little too much room to house the bearing and it would clunk, most often when you turn in reverse. I think they even made shims for this problem.
I imagine the part numbers are now the same as the other years.
That's what I've heard and upon replacing them, the clunk in reverse is gone.
