I finally got around to it today and did the service bulletin procedure.
Per Landjet's suggestions, I measured the torque to loosen the bolts and found it was far less (around 70-80ft-lb) than the final pull required to accomplish the 1/4 turn finish torque. However, #10 was not that different. Some were even less. Have no idea if I accomplished anything (yet.) The car runs great, the plugs are all perfectly clean, there was no oil in coolant or coolant in oil or exhaust. Just an irritating small leak after a long drive and overnight shutdown. Time will tell if I fixed it but I'm not betting on it.
