I visited Scanwest about six years ago as they are one of the faithful go to SAAB shops. They showed me the rebuild area and gave me some pointers on a repair I was working on. He did state that finding new or good used parts is becoming an issue. Time and a very small market are not on our side. My practice is to be very gentle on my trans and limited boost to 3rd, 4th & 5th only.
A totally under appreciated shop is French's foreign car in Irving, TX Tom is the real deal and has been working on these cars since they were new. My second car has a trans rebuilt by Tom and it feels very strong. I'm not sure if Tom is into performance trans like Scanwest.
