First, don't expect a Viggen to be anything like your '04 9-5. I've done some miles in the early 9-3 turbos, and even test drove a Viggen or two. They are cheaply built and squirrely as hell in my opinion--thanks GM. Fast, yes, but I like a car that offers more.
My wife and I both daily drive Classic 900 turbos. These are great driving cars when everything is working as it is supposed to. Solid, great handling, comfortable, and peppy. I do 80 miles a day in my '93. That being said, I have to reiterate what others have said here. If you are not knowledgeable and wrenching on your own cars, or have plenty of disposable cash and know a SAAB specialist, these cars will not be a good choice for a daily. Both mine and my wife's cars were cars that others gave up on. They needed things that I didn't think was as hard or expensive to do as the previous owners did. Cars this old have quirks that you either have to have a high tolerance for, or know how to fix. If you are lucky enough to find one that has had the bugs worked out by the PO you could be satisfied daily-driving it.
