So my 92 vert that I have had for 5 years has always drained a battery in 1-2 week so I stuck a tender on it..
Yesterday I decided to do a prope test with an amp meter on the negative pole of batters.. which measured 3-5 MA fluctuating. Settling to 4 MA with fuse 28 / clock disconnected.
Here is what I found..
1. Interior light relay (drawing 1.4 MA constant )
2. Stock Alarm drawing 2 MA.. when plugged in
3. Clock bouncing between 0-1.5 MA.. (normal)
When I disconnect fuse 28 (clock).. unplug alarm under back seat and pull the yellow dome light delay relay the draw goes to ........ zero!!!!
I simply left the relay out and unplugged the Alarm that did not work great anyway.. and my parasitic drain is gone.. I plugged the clock back in and the draw is 0-1 MA fluctuating which is fine. I may unplug the clock later if I am not driving the car a lot.
That yellow relay is not really needed.. interior lights work fine without it.. you just done get that 30 second dimming effect.. which is nice just not worth a dead battery.. hope this helps others .. and goodbye battery tender!!
