Hi Simon - I probably didn't make it clear in my post - the car gets driven actually nearly every day - i didn't mean to imply that it sits for weeks like my MGB does. Anyway, it hasn't been particularly cold here and as I said, it just started happening recently which made me suspect that something unusual was going on. so was curious, since the battery checked out ok and the starter motor is ok, whether some sensor was starting to go bad or an issue with the fuel. the car runs beautifully normally, so this lengthening of the crank time has me stumped. I'll go into the garage later this afternoon and start the car and see how long it cranks (it's kept indoors at a reasonable indoor garage temperature. Thanks for your help!
