It has been said many a time to buy the best example that you can afford. Mileage is not so much an issue but instead look for long term ownership with service records. Also originality is of paramount importance to me. All of this will necessitate a willingness to travel to get a good example. Fortunately you are near California and rust free examples will more likely be found there. Also New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon & Washington are a good source of older Saabs. As to the year, the '87 & newer have the face lift & more conventional front brakes. I am near Tucson & rarely has there been a nice classic Saab 900, let alone a SPG in this area for sale. Enjoy the search as that can be a lot of fun!
