The problems with the off-brands has always been not whether they work, but for how long. Having a $20 as an emergency spare sounds like a good idea, but the jury will be out on these for a while, I suspect.
Personally, I (and Landjet) have had our AMMs (MAFs) rebuilt by Injection Labs in Boulder ($175 IIRC) and have been very happy with the results going on four years now. A new AMM and fresh electronics makes a world of difference to these old FI systems. CMyles once said Injection Labs was the only rebuilder he trusted.
