87T Cold Start Issue Apparently Resolved-Boost Pressure Switch ? Posted by Roger D [Email] (#1121) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger D) on Fri, 8 Jun 2018 18:15:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A friend's nice running 87T with 140K. Has no driveability issues when running. But has had a vexing cold start problem for a couple years. Getting worse this year. Almost never starts below 70 degrees in the morning. Once it warms up it usually starts and runs just fine. The friend was presented the Townsend LH2.2 no start technical document at least a year ago. It was only casually reviewed. Many components were replaced. Grounds cleaned. Fusebox multi-plugs checked for corrosion. Fuel pumped jumped. Always had spark. Meanwhile my car has been frequently borrowed. I finally said we are doing Townsend NOW. Went thru the first half dozen items with no faults. Got to the boost pressure switch and started with an ohms check. Got weird variable levels of resistance. Just went ahead and bypassed the switch with a jumper. Started right up and hasn't missed a beat all this week.
