The amp for the front speakers is in the head unit. The rear speakers have a separate amp under the rear seat. If you buy an aftermarket head unit, it will not use the OEM cage. It will also have its own internal amp for all the speakers which is usually sufficient if you just want music but aren't an "audiophile".
Putting a replacement in requires running new wires to the rear speakers as the rear amp has a c-bus cable to it that will not work with a replacement radio. You can either run the wires all the way to the individual rear speakers, or you can run them to where the rear amp is, and splice into the rear speakers wires there. Crutchfield also sells an adapter to "plug" a new unit into the original harness so you won't have to cut the OEM harness up.
