I think that the best answer to your question has several parts, all of them are questions:
- Are you confident that all of the fasteners (intermediate shaft pinch bolts, steering rack mounting bolts, tie rod ends, steering column bolts, etc.) have been tightened to the proper torques?
- Is the alignment good?
- Are there any "klunks" when you turn the wheel back and forth while the car is off?
- Do you have someone who would let you drive his C900 for a few minutes so you can compare steering with what should be a known good one? If so how does yours compare?
The only one of the first 3 that should be "no" is the third one. If the answer is yes, revisit the first question.
The last one is optional, but it always helps to have a nearby friend with a C900. A local friend has a magnificent grey '88 SPG that has wonderfully tight steering. It was the inspiration for fixing mine.
