Free 900S in Duluth Posted by Arabiflora [Email] (#1129) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Arabiflora) on Mon, 20 Aug 2018 15:40:35 In Reply to: Need a 5 spd transmission, Duluth MN, Arabiflora [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 18 Aug 2018 17:35:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've opted to walk away (sniff). I posted an ad on the SaabNet board as free in order to save it from the crusher. For the record in this thread, here's the ad:
My '89 900S is available at no cost. The odometer doesn't work, but I'm guessing it has north of 225k miles. No frame rust that I can see or that affects drivability but there is the usual wheel arch rust. Manual sunroof, no leaks. The motor is strong, if a bit incontinent (rear main seal?) Beige cloth interior, aftermarket Kenwood stereo and Michelins all around with ~75% tread (sniff) BUT the tranny seized-- likely culprit is pinion assembly-- and it now sits in the lot at Foreign Affairs of Duluth (Minnesota). I hate to part with it, it's been steady and true for the ~18 months that I owned it (until it wasn't).
I'm giving it away because it's 325 miles from home and, when you add up transport and likely repair costs, even if a DIY job, I'm looking at ~$2,000 to get it back on the road. I don't have the $'s at the moment nor the time to do the work, but I don't want it to go to the crusher. Lots of useful parts that are increasingly hard to get, it would be a shame to see them go to waste.
Give me a call or text if you have questions and we can discuss title transfer and pickup options. I can also dig-up some pics if you want-- basically, it's white, 3-door and, except for that one thing, it runs great.
