Found a 93 Commemorative Edition, is it worth saving?

I recently came across a small dealer that has a 1993 CE for sale. It's only $1500, but has a large dent in the passenger fender. I live around 10 hours away, so it's not convenient to go look in person. So far the seller hasn't been super descriptive. He answered my questions, says there is surface rust and that reverse gear makes some noise when shifting into it. He didn't describe the noise.
The car has 189,000 miles and is in decent shape other than the dent. The VIN history report says the dent is estimated at a $2000 repair. Some stitching coming loose from the drivers seat but interior looks pretty good other than that. I haven't run a Carfax, but did find some history online. The accident happened in 2011 in Florida, which for now leads me to believe rust may not be an issue (if it spent most of it's life in FL).
Anyway, I'm just looking for some thoughts/opinions. Does it seem worth it to buy the car and begin restoring?
