This can be fixed by deepening the dentent inside the metal case.
Inside the turn signal assembly, a spring-loaded roller keeps the stalk in position during turns. That roller rests in a rounded notch in the case. One notch for left turns, one notch for right turns. The roller wears (or flattens) the edges of the notches. By making that notch just a bit deeper, the roller can do its job again. A dremel works well for this.
