My experience with cars is that if you procrastinate long enough, the car will stop waiting for you to figure out the problem and just tell it to you. It really pays off!
On Friday the car was running wonderfully, and after several checks it seemed the oil leak was actually improving. Then, on the way home that evening I smelled a little coolant. Normally that would be upsetting, but I was happy about it. Got home, engine bay was dry, coolant reservoir was down a noticeable amount. Head gasket failure. FINALLY.
I ordered a bunch of related stuff last night, plus a new 228mm clutch, and RMS. I will reseal the rear cover at the same time. I can't just leave well enough alone, so probably I will go ahead and send the exhaust manifold off for a ceramic coating and have the head checked/rebuilt at the same time.
I need this work like I need a hole in my head, but whatever. It'll be done and the NEXT time this car needs anything up front, the whole power train is coming out!
