Looking at a few different part ordering sites, you can see that the Volvo sensor is a 2wire variable reluctance / magnetic pulse generator. This should be outputting an AC signal. The Saab CPS that is used with T5 is a 3wire Hall Effect sensor IIRC. This will be outputting a square digital output. I remember reading about how someone had a problem on a T5 conversion because of this.
Cool thing is nowadays you don’t need an Oscope to look at these waveforms. An inexpensive Arduino board could be hooked up to the sensors to compare the outputs. My question about the sensor was sourced in why the Volvo sensor needed new features on the flywheel. It would be interesting to see the output of both sensors from the same features.
