Still own a classic 900 convertible and got to say it’s still a joy to drive. When I first embark each summer I immediately remember why I love driving it so much. Enter the thick leather seats, place yourself behind a beautiful curved windscreen with unobstructed view, surround yourself with an uncluttered instrument panel with all the necessary creature comforts you could only dream of back in the day within easy reach. Turn the key and listen to the quiet low range burble through a large diameter exhaust. On the highway, it has a solid gentle feel with quiet low end torque and a push from the turbo that always puts a smile on my face because SAAB put it there just because they could. Handling is just as good whether slow or fast. A modern rear windscreen behind your neck is not needed because the wind turbulence is minimal. Signalling to turn into my street at night a pleasant surprise when the corner lights turn on and light up the direction of my turn. Attention to detail, solid feel, and individuality that most modern mass produced sedans can not compete with. Yes, it’s not for everyone to enjoy, but only for a dedicated lucky few.
