Nothing to apologize for - I'm unfamiliar with the arrangement and am just trying to wrap my head around it before I dig in. I did find some photos online that helped.
So if I'm understanding correctly, there's no need to remeasure the lash and reshim even with a new driver? The seals are easy and cheap, so they'd definitely get replaced. I'm fastidious about cleaning everything I work on before it goes back together, so no worries on that front.
If I don't need to pull the downpipe I'd probably leave it in place. Even though the exhaust isn't that old, I've had too many fights with, and had too many jobs delayed by, rusty exhaust fasteners.
Thanks for the clarifications. I'll send you an email regarding the replacement driver.
