I can't tell you if those brands were Saab OEM, but they are OE for a number of European brands, and are a quality product.
As far as bedding, the procedure you listed seems a bit overkill, but it's fine. The point is to get the pads and rotors nice and hot so the surfaces can match up for maximum efficiency. To minimize the chance of glazing, just try to avoid holding the brakes after stopping, especially when hot; if you have an automatic this is obviously more problematic. With good pads, however, it shouldn't be much of an issue.
If you want to have the best chance of the new pads mating with the existing rotors, go over the rotors with a Scotchbrite pad and then a shot of brake cleaner before you mount the pads. This will cut any glaze that may be still on the rotor surface.
