As a long time a/c tech I tend to replace the entire system if there are any issues; leaks, or noise, etc.

If you are mechanically inclined changing the parts are not an issue. Due to the steel content in the drier the hoses may be corroded and care must be taken to remove it.

At the least you need to replace the drier, expansion valve and all o-rings. Flush the system well. Pull a long vacuum to evaporate moisture and any left over oil/flush. Then recharge system with proper oil watching the pressures on low and high sides, paying close attention to not exceed the original recommended pressures. You will not put in as much 134a as there was r12.

The c900 is fairly easy to work on compared to others I have worked on.
