If you've pulled a Saab Engine and trans, you can pull any RWD trans no problem. Price a junk trans and make the descision on money not work. I don't count cars as work. I'm pretty sure the trans comes off w/o moving the engine much, just like most RWD's. Get some high quality jack stands or ramps. Rent a trans jack or modify your floor jack to support the trans on the way down. I always pulled them off by hand and dropped them on my chest but this can damage the input bearing and seal (not to mention your chest. I really shouldn't be alive.) BMW's not the dark side. A rice burner - now that's the dark side. (JUST KIDDING! I've owned my share, please don't turn this into the longest string on the BB)
