Universal 3-wire is the one to use. If it's a Bosch sensor, it's the same as the one SAAB uses. I got mine from Sobstory.com for a decent price. You can also get one for a ford mustang V-8 and splice the wires, too.
A clogged cat can certainly rob you of performance but it shouldn't have any effect on the O2 sensor. The rotten egg smell is a function of the sulfur in the gasoline and the platinum coating on the honeycomb converter core.
Describe the wheezing a bit more.
