I had a similiar problem on my old 80 900T. Since you mentioned that you had the dash apart check the connection at the hazard light switch. One day the turn signals quit on me. The indicators on the dash would not light up when I operated the turn siganl lever. However if I pushed the hazard light switch the indicators on the dash and all 4 flashers worked. Then the turn signals would function for a few days then quit. One of the wires on the back of the hazard switch had partially pulled out. It would make an intermittent connection.
