it occurred to me that the reply was very close to the end of BBS....this is a repost in case the other falls off the end before you see it.
i do not think that the gasketworks gasket comes annealed. I too tried the permatex and copper and gasketworks..only to have it fail. so i bought the iskendarian block-tool and o-ringed the block and used the gasketworks spray sealer. if you do not o-ring the block the water seal will fail rapidly and leak...no big deal on a drag car that gets torn down every race...kind of a drag on a daily driver!! too anneal it just get a propane torch and a dark room. heat a patch the size of a golf ball to dull orange/red. you can work that "patch" all the way from bottom to top. (hang it vertically). takes a little technique and you must work the preheat zone as well in an even manner. after it cools it looks like crap. get a scotch brite drill flap brush and polish that sucker up ON A VERY CLEAN AND FLAT SURFACE, the surface is soft and deforms easily, no shop deris under it please..... give two good but not dripping coats of gasketworks sealer. let dry overnite even if cold. warm gasket in house before assembly. lightly dust a coat of spary sealer on gasket to raise surface tack. assemble. torque in 5 -10 pound increments. IT MUST COME DOWN SQUARE.
a labor of love....or money if having it done.
ciao
