It isn't really that hard, but if you haven't done it before, it may look intimidating. I would suggest buying the bently book, as it will walk you step by step through the procedure. The haynes manual, although not nearly as good as the bently manual will also discribe the procedure.
The job will take you at least an hour a side if it is your first time.
It goes like this.
Remove center cap from wheel, and break nut loose. It is tight, you'll need a breaker bar. (It is much safer to break this nut loose before you raise car and remove wheel)
Now here is where the special tool comes in. You need to put something between the upper control arm and the body. SAAB has a special tool which I use, but many folks do fine with two sockets or something of the sort. This step is important, because if you skip it (I have by accident in the past) the steering knuckle is VERY hard to get back on.
Raise car remove wheel.
Undo nut on holding tie rod end to steering knuckle. Use softface mallot(brass or something sutible) to remove tie-rod end from steering knuckle.
Undo the two bolts that hold ball joint to upper control arm. (Not the bolt that holds ball joint to steering knuckle) Slide ball joint out of upper control arm
At this point you should be able to remove axel. Don't forget to loosen hose clamp holding axel to inner driver. Sometimes I also remove lower balljoint to make removing axel easier, but you shouldn't have to.
After the axel is out, replacing the boot/joint is pretty easy, (although it can be messy) Be careful not to distrub the tripod bearing, and also remember to grease inner joint before you reinstall
Now do the other side :)
