I have an '83 Turbo, bought it new in 1982. I will never sell this car! Even though it's only the 8 valve and I have spent a fair bit of time working on it, I know it inside out and I love it. My buddies think I'm a fanatic. I could afford a new Saab, but why? No payments and it still flies just fine for me. the odometer stoped at 130K, I must be well into the 250K range by now. Watch for oil leaks near the fire wall, if the crank is out a bit it will cause the oil pump to run out and can score the timing cover, the resulting loss of oil pressure is bad. Also I agree check the tranny, they are prone to popping out in reverse. I have had the turbo rebuilt once and the regular maintenance things i.e. alternator, rad, fuel press. reg., starter....but all in all how many other makes from 83 are in as fine form? Good Luck
