Battery Light not turning on - Saabnet.com Bulletin Board
When I switch on the ignition all of the lights on the instrument panel lights up except for the battery. The manual suggest a check of the charging system, which I did. The simplest one is to measure the voltage at the battery when the engine is off. This measures about 12.5 v. At idle and with lights on, fan on, radio on this voltage drops to about 11.7 suggesting a failure in the alternator. When I run the engine to 2000 rpms the battery voltage reads 13.6 v. What is the prognosis?, anyone?
