APC (BPC) Solenoid Failed after 6 months

Last June I replaced the BPC on my 94 9000 Turbo and the bloody thing just failed; or at least I think so. Turbo goes into Red on gauge then cuts out - kinda of exciting until the bucking starts.

I swapped my old one in and of course all I got was Base Boost and nothing else. I tried cleaning the new one, but encountered the same problem when I plugged it back into the car.

The parts place ProTech (one of the sponsors) said the part is under warranty for a year.

My question is: Can it be something else besides this one part? I have new plugs, properly gapped. Heck, this car only is driven about 3,000 miles a year.
