I know the car isn't losing oil - I've had it almost 8K miles and it isn't burning any. It had come off a fresh oil change when I bought it. The first oil change I had done by a shop about 4K miles ago - they filled it to the MAX line, and it's been holding there quite nicely.
I'm not worried about using oil - I'm worried that I have overfilled it, and that I could get oil foaming. I put oil in according to the manual, at 5.4 quarts - and I was surprised that the level was well above the MAX line.
Folks with '97 Turbos - how much oil do you put in?
