Been seeing erratic EDU readings

When I described this previously, Ari suggested that 14.5 was pretty high, and that changing the VR would not be unreasonable. What bugged me was that I'd never seen anything over 14.2 in the 5 years and 70K miles I've owned the car. I compared it to what I was seeing on my multimeter and they matched, give or take a 10th of a volt. However, electromechanical variances and age/time may be all I'm seeing. And at 160K I figured a new VR wouldn't hurt.
The battery is maybe 3 years old, has no apparent issues.
So I swapped the VR and am seeing somewhat more stable EDU readings, but comparing the EDU with the multimeter I find there's more variance than before between the EDU and meter.
I'm just not used to seeing 14.3 to 14.5 volts. It may be fine, but I'd rather not fry any electronics. Will just have to keep an eye on it, but am open to suggestions from those more electrically savvy than I.
