How did you remove the airbag from the steering wheel? When I looked at it, it appeared it was held in by pop rivets, and I didn't want to start drilling into the incendiary device. There were also some triangular screws on the back, but those looked more like I'd be taking the airbag apart which I also was afraid to do.
I left the ecu in, and inserted resistors into the airbag connectors, so that the warning light does not come on. The benefit to that is that the seat belt pre-tensioners will still function.
Considering the front airbags are of dubious benefit anyway, disabling these ancient ones was a pretty easy decision.
Installing the glove box was not a trivial matter. There are two brackets you have to cut or grind off otherwise it will not fit. Also, I do believe you have to move the fuse box to the top of the glove box, and there isn't really any way to secure it. In my car it just rests there.
