I'm not questioning your statemnt or experience. However I would like to report that I have been using MMO in my 95' Aero 5 speed (mileage 127K) as a one pint additive to M1 5W30 for the past 10 years, with no problems whatsoever. No taps, no odd ball noises, no power issues. Also, a year ago I replaced the stock exhaust with a free flowing turbo back 3" exhaust (racing cat, straight thru mufflers), increasing the boost power without any engine incidents. I also add a pint of MMO to a full tank of gas for upper cylinder protection and better mileage (ave city MPG 28). I never heard of it being added to trans fluid, but years ago I saw in the Saab 9000 tech manual in big bold letters, DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC OIL IN TRANSMISSION. I don't remember why. Speaking of manual transmissions, is third gear AWLAYS bit crunchy? It's not a deal breaker, but I wonder if I need to change the fluid. Thanks in advance!
