Elder son did this on his 97 900 convertible last spring, refilling with 'duracool' refrigerant. Result, as evidenced by me, was impressive: centre vent temps at 37F
My 97 has gone past the nicely cold performance (low refrigerant symptom) now into the barely cold regime.. too low to be genuinely useful.
a) r134a is seriously corrosive and as result it pinholes the evaporator into a replacement
b) R134A is no less Eco toxic than R 12 (soon to be outlawed as well ?)
c) 40% less efficient than R12 at actual cooling .
Will let you know.. How.. it works in my pore old '97 :-)
