Great minds must think alike.. I tried a variety of different bits to try to get the screw undone. Nothing worked. Then I took a good look at it, decided to tap up on the mount, and it spun the screw right off!
Glad I took my time and didn't try to force anything. There is a hidden screw underneath the mount!
Found the source of the serious clunk that made me tear this down. The bearing on the 1st piston is gone! It just rattles on the crank. I am sure the valves are beat up. I am hoping the crank is ok.
Now I am just trying to find all the timing marks so I can take the chains off and remove the head. Wish me luck!
