In addition to the usual list of things that frequently go bad, you can also check out the following:
1. Rusted gas tank straps - when they completely rust out the tank will
partially fall down
2. Running down the center of the underbody of the car is a metal shield
which protects the transmission of heat to the interior floor. This
shield has rusted out on all three of the 9000s which we have owned.
Cure is to weld in a sheet metal patch over the rusted area.
3. Rear quarter panel area just behind the rear wheels. If the car begins
to have rust, this (along with the rear shock towers) is the most
likely place for it to start.
4. Plastic covering for the wiring going from the rear window area into the
hatch area. Eventually this material wears out and requires replacing.
Notwithstanding the above items, along with the "usual mechanical issues,"
the 9000 is a great car to drive from so many different aspects; it is truly the automotive jack of all trades!
