it's possible that it's been reasonably cared for, despite the lack of records. Some people just don't record stuff or keep records.
OR it's been tweaked, hammered on, and stuff is about to die. If it's a private sale, ask the seller what he has done and when. You may get straight answers. Or not.
You can tell if it works right by driving it and giving it a thorough inspection at a GOOD Saab indy shop. There are a bunch in the Boston area.
If it's an obviously decent car the mileage shouldn't be an issue, but you ARE buying a modified, 17-year old sports sedan with 200K on it, so it's not like you're buying a used Corolla. It will need stuff. But these are good cars and not hard to work on, even though you are getting it on the downhill side of its lifespan. (I have one at 189K and one at 162K. The older one is my favorite of all cars I've owned.)
