thinking about buying a new BPC valve but....

I am nervous that there is something else wrong... possibly transistors? Is there anyway to verify the ECU is functioning as it should in this manner? My car ('93 Aero) is suffering from chronic overboost. I have replaced the BPC valve twice (with used) and after a while they die and I start overboosting again. The one I bought this summer seemed to last a while say, 5k miles at most. But the one I just got only seemed to last a few days. It was suspect however when I got it because when blowing into the center port (W) with the top port (C) covered, air was leaking through to the bottom (R) port. The one I removed from the car (bought this summer used) tested good in that aspect but the resistance was off, about 4.8 ohms from center to each outside contact. I just don't want to install a $200+ part only to fry it in a month...
Any suggestions?
