When I replaced my front wheel bearing, I "rented" (no charge when returned) a high value (250 or 300 ft.lb.) torque wrench from my local Autozone. The wrench was practically new, so I assume that it was slightly more accurate than guessing. Other autoparts stores also offer similar seldom-used tools for rent, which encourages you to buy part/tools from them - while at it I picked up a 24" breaker bar, which made removing the bolt easier than using my 15" tool.
