First rule, believe what your instruments tell you-unless you have reason to believe otherwise? (read attached link for lesson learned)
So:Engine starts/runs/operates fine, no Check Engine Light, no code--so temperature sensor between cyl 2 and 3 (which ECU utilizes to schedule fuel, etc) on intake manifold is probably functional? Rem
If cockpit gauge displays a temperature lower than normal,(keeping in mind it IS dead of winter in many parts, engines take time to get to temp) and if you believe it also is functional, and it also monitors the same coolant then logic leads to -- Thermostat!
Two sensors in agreement, and one primary mechanical temperature control device (which gets a lot of cycling!! Heat!! and Wear!!
If TMI control room operators had only seen that OTHER temperature indicator and responded accordingly, problems could have been averted.

I am betting with Noel. Report back if it really was weak T-Stat?
