If you're near a former Saab dealer that's still in the car business their parts counter can look up your key code, and probably will for free.
And they can order a new key for you, from away so it'll take a while.
Or, armed with the code, see if another locksmith will make a new key for you, for a good bit less than $200.
I had one made locally, for I think it was $50. Less than the Saab price at the time.
They have to pay a massive price for a special cutter to make those keys so they need to recoup that.
I agree with the locksmith that that's probably your problem. You've tried turning the key over, pulling it back out a bit, wiggling it, etc?
Cover your car with plastic sheeting till it stops raining, then you'll feel better about things. No big sheets? Drape a garbage bag over the top of each door with an open window, then close the door.
