I've only done this once and am not an expert .But if you did not replace the tapered differential bearing, but rather the roller bearing and retainer that holds the driver shaft , and you replaced the original shims (in any order) IMO you are probably just fine-- unless the replacement retainer is significantly different than the original.
If on the other hand you replaced the differential bearing, the procedure for setting the race is to use a jackscrew to press it in to 14.8 ftlbs, You then use a depth gauge to determine the proper amount of shims to maintain that position. If you didn't change the race but wanted to check the replacement retainer, you could measure with a depth gauge and compare to your original shims.
