loose shift coupler Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Wed, 3 May 2017 07:29:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |

The shift coupler is very loose. It seems that the pin was never tightened properly, and I have tried to tighten it but cannot keep the fat end from spinning. I suspect that over time, the hole in the coupler shaft has been enlarged, so even if I could get manage to tighten the nut, it's going to bottom out before the shaft becomes secure.
I have the option of trying to remove the pin, then replacing the entire coupler and installing a new pin. Anyone who's tried to remove that pin while it's still on the car knows it's not exactly easy.
Anyone have any ideas for a creative solution? The car is in its twilight years, so I don't want to invest a ton of time or money, just a solution that will keep it going a couple more years.
