Factory set cruise switch plunger length Posted by sam96CS [Email] (#852) [Profile/Gallery] (more from sam96CS) on Fri, 2 Jun 2017 18:12:23 In Reply to: Re: Cruise Control Brake Pedal Switch, sam96CS [Profile/Gallery] , Tue, 7 Mar 2017 06:03:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I was wrong when I said my switch was at the factory set length. I know because I bought a new switch, and the length of the extended plunger is 15/16". The length of the plunger on my old switch was 5/8".
I tried removing the old switch from the bracket which was a mistake. I broke part of the plastic tabs that secure the switch to the bracket, resulting in a wobbly fit. Hence I bought a new switch.
I should have read more posts before messing with the switch. The plunger should be pulled out with pliers without removing the switch from the bracket. Not to worry about extending it too far because it will self-adjust to the length it needs to be. Too bad that it doesn't self-adjust when the plunger length is too small.
