So I just finished the job so let me add a few hints for a 1996 AERO.
1. The screws that hold on the airbag are NOT in the back but on either side of the airbag but behind the steering wheel, they have plugs covering the access holes.
2/3. There are two connections behind the airbag, one to the left that easily unclips and the one in the center, it just pries directly toward the front of the car. When the steering wheel gets loose-ish those two wires will have to be fed through the hole in the wheel. If your car is as old as mine, when you pull the steering wheel towards you it will pull the clock spring mechanism with it breaking the clear plastic bits that keep it together. Don't panic. It can be rewound and if you take care to make sure it's rewound 2.5 turns from either side it will still work ALTHOUGH you will have to keep pressure on the top black) part to keep the thing from unwinding again.
4. on the right side of the steering column under it at about the dash position are the two other connections of the clock spring. They are held in place by a black zip-tie. Much easier to undo if you clip that.
5. Yup but it's a pain to pry off and I ended up elevating the bearing and rubber cover out , not a bad thing.
6. If you want to remove the bearing, and you should, pull on the column a bit and all of that will come out and is easily slid off. Why remove it? Because the inner area of the bearing has dissolved plastic bushing that a you should remove to make the new one difficult to press in. Also the bearings in mine were dry and crunchy, cleaned them up and put some grease in there because that's how God intended bearing to be!
The clock spring has a pin that protrudes into a hole in the back of the steering wheel. That pin should be at the bottom of the spring when you assemble things BUT it still has to be able to turn 2.5 turns in each direction. Oh , BTW, eEuro doesn't sell clock springs for 9000's.
