My 96 Aero almost left me stranded last night. I had a problem in an interstate traffic jam around month ago. It would buck and misfire and I could barely keep it running. Once back up to speed, it would behave normally. I put a brand new SEM DI in it from Eeuro and it seemed fine after that. Yesterday it was mid-90's here and I hopped in the car for a short trip. Once I got into city stop and go, it started misfiring and bucking again and got so bad it was stalling. The more it misfired, the hotter it got, the worse it misfired. I had to stop in a parking lot to let it cool off with the hood popped. The engine bay was cooking. I limped it home and it died in the parking lot. I went out this morning and threw the scanner on it and pulled the codes. All I had was P0300, multiple cylinder misfire. It could be a bad DI but it's brand new. The other possibility is it could be another electrical component getting hot and breaking down. What other components are prone to failing from heat and causing misfires? I have another ECM but my other spare parts are in commercial warehouse storage during my relocation move from NH to MI. Crank sensor? ECM? TPS?
TIA!
Gregg
